Information we collect

The information we collect depends on the product requested and the stage of the application. It may include:

  • identity and contact details, such as your name, date of birth, residential address, email address and telephone number;
  • business details, such as the business name, trading address, company number, ownership, directors, industry, time trading, employees, turnover and funding purpose;
  • financial information, such as bank statements, account details, revenue, existing borrowing, assets, liabilities, payment history and the amount and term requested;
  • application and communication records, including enquiry forms, emails, messages, call notes, documents supplied and lender decisions;
  • information required for identity, anti-money laundering, fraud prevention, sanctions, creditworthiness and affordability checks;
  • technical and website information, such as IP address, device and browser data, referral source and cookie or analytics information; and
  • marketing preferences and records of consent, objections or opt-outs.

Where an application involves a personal guarantee, a partnership, a sole trader or an individual connected with a business, we may process personal financial and credit information about that individual. Please ensure any other person whose information you give us has been told that their details may be used as described in this policy.

03

How we obtain information

We obtain information directly from you when you complete an online form, speak with us, send documents or ask us to arrange finance. We may also receive information from your business, co-directors or advisers; Companies House and other public registers; lenders and finance providers; identity, credit reference and fraud prevention agencies; open banking providers where you choose to use them; marketing partners that collected your details lawfully; and technical service providers used to operate our website and systems.

Our legitimate interests include providing an efficient finance-broking service, identifying suitable products, protecting our business and clients, preventing misuse, maintaining accurate records and improving our services. We balance those interests against your rights and expectations.

If we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before consent was withdrawn. Some processing is necessary to consider or progress an application; if required information is not provided, we or a lender may be unable to proceed.

05

Credit searches, fraud checks and lender decisions

A lender or finance provider may carry out identity, creditworthiness, affordability, anti-money laundering, sanctions and fraud prevention checks. This may involve searches with credit reference agencies or fraud prevention agencies. A search may leave a record on a personal or business credit file, and the lender should explain whether a soft or hard search will be used before it is carried out.

Lenders make their own decisions and process information under their own privacy notices. They may use automated systems, scoring or profiling to assess risk, eligibility, pricing or lending terms. We do not control a lender's decision-making process. You should read the relevant lender's privacy notice before accepting an offer or proceeding with checks.

06

Who we share information with

We share personal information only where necessary and proportionate. Recipients may include:

  • selected lenders, funders and finance providers, including Capify where appropriate;
  • credit reference, identity verification, anti-money laundering and fraud prevention agencies;
  • open banking or bank-statement analysis providers where you choose or agree to use those services;
  • professional advisers, insurers, auditors and compliance providers;
  • technology, customer relationship management, communications, document storage, analytics and website service providers acting under contract;
  • regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts, public authorities or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and
  • a buyer, investor or successor if our business or assets are reorganised, sold or transferred, subject to appropriate confidentiality safeguards.

We do not sell personal information. A lender receiving an application will usually act as an independent controller and will be responsible for its own use of the information.

07

Marketing and communications

We may contact business customers about relevant finance products and services where the law allows us to do so. You can opt out at any time by replying to a message, using an unsubscribe option where provided, or contacting us at joseph@b2bloansuk.com. Opting out of marketing will not stop service messages needed to manage an enquiry or application.

08

International transfers

Some suppliers may store or access information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we require an appropriate safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism. You may contact us for further information about the safeguards used in a particular case.

09

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, regulatory, accounting, fraud prevention and dispute-handling requirements. As a general guide:

  • application, transaction and client records may be retained for up to six years after the relationship or application ends;
  • enquiry records that do not progress may normally be retained for up to two years, unless a longer period is needed for a complaint, legal claim, fraud prevention or another lawful reason;
  • marketing records are kept until you opt out or they are no longer needed, with suppression details retained so that we can respect your preference; and
  • technical, security and call records are retained for periods appropriate to their purpose and risk.

We may anonymise information so that it no longer identifies anyone. Anonymised information may be kept and used for analysis without a further retention limit.

10

How we protect information

We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. These include access controls, password and account protections, secure systems, staff confidentiality requirements, restricted sharing and appropriate supplier arrangements. No internet or storage system is completely secure, but we review safeguards in light of the information and risks involved.

11

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information and information about how it is used;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask us to erase information where there is no lawful reason to retain it;
  • ask us to restrict how information is used;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests and object at any time to direct marketing;
  • receive information you provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or ask us to send it to another organisation, where the right to data portability applies;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • ask for human review or challenge certain decisions made solely by automated means where those decisions have legal or similarly significant effects.

These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We will normally respond within one month, although the law allows more time for complex or numerous requests.

12

Cookies and website information

Our website may use essential cookies needed for security and operation, and may use analytics or advertising technologies where permitted. Non-essential cookies should be used only in line with the choices offered through the website. You can also manage cookies using your browser settings, although blocking essential cookies may affect website functionality.

13

Complaints

Please contact us first if you have a concern about how we use personal information. We will investigate and respond as soon as reasonably possible.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection. Visit ico.org.uk, call 0303 123 1113, or write to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, suppliers, legal obligations or data-handling practices. The current version will show its effective date. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
